How We Make Our Ghee

At Milqra, we follow the time-honoured dahi to makkhan method — a traditional process passed down through generations in the kitchens of Punjab.

Here's how it works:

  1. Fresh Milk/Cream — We start with pure, fresh milk sourced from trusted local farms.
  2. Dahi (Yogurt) — The milk is cultured into dahi, allowing natural fermentation to develop rich, complex flavours.
  3. Makkhan (Butter) — The dahi is slowly churned to separate the makkhan — creamy, golden, and full of goodness.
  4. Slow-Cooked Ghee — The makkhan is then gently simmered over low heat until it transforms into pure, aromatic desi ghee — with that unmistakable nutty fragrance and deep golden colour.
